Palm Acid Oil (PAO)
Palm Acid Oil (PAO) is a by-product of the palm oil refining process. Most of the content is dominated by FFA (above 50%) and neutral oil, with 2-3% softness and other residues. This product has similarities with palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD).
The main uses of PAO are for use as animal feed, an ingredient in soap making and for the production of distilled fatty acids. This product is classified as rare production in European countries because Malaysian and Indonesian palm oil is refined by a physical process that produces more PFAD than PAO.
